    Colony Capital is seeking a Senior Accountant

     

    Responsibilities

    • Assist in the preparation of SEC filings, including the 10-Q/K, reviewing the completeness and accuracy of the corresponding supporting work papers and schedules;
    • Preparation of monthly corporate accounting entries;
    • Reconcile non-GAAP reporting measures;
    • Assist in the preparation of the interim and quarterly results presentation, which includes developing an executive summary accompanied with period over period analysis of the company’s balance sheet, income statement, and core earnings with detailed explanations.
    • Assist in the preparation of Disclosure Committee and Audit Committee presentations, which includes analytical results of the company with additional detail on 10-Q/K significant developments and other relevant information.
    • Support the quarterly dividend coverage forecast and monthly dividends;
    • Review CMBS models prepared by our 3rd party service provider which includes the recording of accruals for interest income and discount accretion and the tracking of cash activity within the two CMBS custodial accounts.
    • Prepare P&L analytic schedule to analyze G&A and transaction costs for the Chief Accounting Officer. Compare against prior quarter and budget, with variance explanations;
    • Review Corporate Finance documents for accuracy and consistency with 10-Q/K
    • Direct interaction with external auditors (EY).;
    • Update process narratives to reflect current procedures, and ensure relevant controls are implemented and executed;
    • Directly interact with Chief Accounting Officer, Investments, Asset Management, Legal, Treasury, Corporate Finance and Tax;

    Qualifications

    • 3+ years of experience in public accounting or a combination of public accounting and corporate accounting. 2 busy-seasons in public accounting preferred;
    • Big 4 and Real Estate / Financial Services experience preferred. 
    • Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint); Working knowledge of Yardi and Anaplan is a plus
    • A self-starter who views the business through the eyes of an owner;
    • Strong research, analytical, quantitative and problem solving skills;
    • Understanding of U.S. GAAP accounting principles and requirements;
    • Knowledge of SEC rules and regulations;
    • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated commitment to teamwork;
    • Ability to communicate effectively across multiple levels, functions and locations;
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
    • Desire to identify and implement process improvements;
    • Attention to accuracy and detail;
    • Effectively work and communicate with members of the team to ensure established deadlines are met in an efficient, accurate, thorough and neat manner;
