    Colony Capital is seeking a Senior Accountant to work on our Colony Credit Real Estate portfolio (CLNC).

    Responsibilities

    • Supervise, monitor and evaluate accounting activities associated with the operating real estate (“ORE”) properties.
    • Develop a solid understanding and be able to articulate each ORE underlying businesses activities and results.
    • Review month end financial packages from real estate operators and third-party service providers to ensure accuracy and completeness.
    • Prepare/review month-over-month/quarter-over-quarter variance analytics to identify and explain significant variances in operating results.
    • Perform Core Earnings and NOI YTD trend analysis of ORE properties for asset managers and senior management.
    • Calculate and record ORE activity monthly and quarterly, to facilitate SEC public company reporting requirements (10-Q/K).
    • Manage relationship with ORE partners and third-party service provider  to ensure compliance with CLNC’s policies and procedures.
    • Assist ORE partners and RRD (our 3rd party accounting function) with assessing and determining accounting treatment.
    • Monitor reporting requirements for annual stand-alone audits and lender compliance packages for all operating properties to ensure timely and accurate completion;
    • Advise/support asset management  and investment teams including preparing ad-hoc analysis;
    • Assist the team with journal entry preparation, expense analysis, management presentation and preparation of SEC filings, including the 10-Q/K;
    • SOX -- ensure that process narratives reflect current procedures and that controls are implemented and executed both internally and by third-party managers/operators;

    Qualifications

    3+ years’ experience performing/auditing the accounting/reporting of business operations.  Real estate experience preferred.  At least two busy-seasons in public accounting required with Strong Microsoft Office skills (Excel, Outlook, Word, PowerPoint); Working knowledge of Yardi and Anaplan.

    • Solid understanding of U.S. GAAP accounting principles and requirements;
    • Knowledge of SEC rules and regulations;
    • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated commitment to teamwork;
    • Ability to communicate effectively across multiple levels, functions and locations;
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
    • Desire to identify and implement process improvements;
    • Ability to properly manage and prioritize resources, people and projects with a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail; and
    • Effectively work and communicate with members of the team to ensure established deadlines are being met in an efficient, accurate, thorough and neat manner;
