The Senior Accountant will focus on supporting Colony Credit Real Estate (NYSE: CLNC), a listed commercial real estate credit REIT focused on originating, acquiring, financing and managing a diversified portfolio of commercial real estate debt and net leased real estate investments predominantly in the United States.     Responsibilities

    • Assist with the preparation of:
      • Quarterly SEC filings, including the 10-Q and 10-K, as well as reviewing the accuracy of XBRL tags in the filings;
      • Monthly consolidation reporting;
      • Monthly detailed corporate balance sheet and P&L analytic reporting;
      • Monthly operating real estate analysis;
      • Monthly expense accruals;
      • Recording daily cash activity and corresponding bank reconciliations;
      • Debt covenant compliance calculations;
    • Provide external auditors with supporting documentation and ad hoc requests;
    • Assist the Internal Audit team to ensure that process narratives reflect current procedures and that controls are implemented and executed;
    • Staying informed of latest accounting updates and applying them to reporting requirements, including the preparation of accounting position memos;
    • Respond to/work with Business on accounting queries and reporting items; and
    • Directly interact with members of senior management, investment professionals, legal and tax.

    Qualifications

    • 3-5 years of experience in public accounting or a combination of public accounting and corporate accounting.  Big 4 and real estate/financial services experience preferred.  
    • Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint);
    • Working knowledge of Yardi, Anaplan and Workiva;
    • Bachelor’s degree (Accounting or Finance);
    • Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP;
    • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail;
    • Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
    • Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated commitment to teamwork;
    • Ability to communicate effectively across multiple levels, functions and locations;
    • Desire to identify and implement process improvement opportunities;
    • Effectively communicates with members of the team to ensure established deadlines are being met in an efficient, accurate, thorough and neat manner;
    • Ability to adapt to changing responsibilities, especially in year one of a newly established company; and
    • A self-starter who views the business through the eyes of an owner.
